Reverse Stanford White

Reverse Stanford White, American, late 19th century. 4 1/2" wide, 22K gold leaf, hand shaped, hand carved with compositional mould panel. The great American architect Stanford White (1853-1906) was also an influential frame designer who was inspired by European architecture and fine art, particularly from the Italian Renaissance. He regularly created profiles for the work of such artist friends as Thomas Dewing and Abbott Thayer.
