Chippendale

Chippendale style, English, 18th century. 5 1/4" wide, antique 22k gold leaf over red, hand carved. This Rococo-style frame utilizes pierced ornate carving and is named after the great English furniture designer Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779). His landmark book "Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Design" was so influential that the Chippendale name is often indiscriminately applied to mid-18th-century furniture design as a whole.
