Bolognese, Italian, 16th century. 3-3/8" wide, warm silver leaf over black with black scooped panel, hand carved. This frame combines a hand carved border of concave tongues with a deep black scooped panel. Its design is effective in a variety of finishes such as gold leaf and stained wood.
