Sassetta, Italian, 16th century. 3" wide, antique black with antique gold lines and hand painted corner and center design. This frame was designed for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was first used to frame the work of the great Sienese painter, Giovanni Sassetta (1392?-1450).
