Herrera, Spanish. 5 1/4" wide, warm 22K gold leaf over red with black panel and hand-painted design, hand carved and hand shaped. This frame is a modern variation of a 16th-century design and has elevated ornaments in the shape of precious stones surrounded by a painted decoration on a black base. The moulding is frequently used in Europe on the works of Picasso and Miró.
